The Summer Academy
A Summer Experience Like No Other—Lamar-style only for incoming 9th graders
One 12-day Session: June 13-June 30, 2011
(4 days a week: Monday - Thursday)
Hours: 8:30 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
Tuition: $75.00
Summer Academy Registration: 5:00 - 6:00 p.m., May 9 & 11 in Cafeteria
This is an interactive, interdisciplinary blending of English, math, science, technology, humanities, the arts, physical education, and a second language in a project-based, non-graded curriculum, taught with the IB Middle Years Programme methodology and pedagogy.Fee waivers and reductions are available for students who qualify for the free and reduced lunch program.
Dress Code Policy
All students are required to wear the RED Lamar Summer Academy uniform shirt and khaki pants, khaki shorts, or the Lamar uniform skirt, at all times. NO EXCEPTIONS. Uniform shirts are $7.00 each and are to be purchased in the school store or during registration, if available.

*Pick up the registration forms in Family II. Advisors will approve courses at that time. Bring the signed form and payment to N110.

Uniforms: Students are required to wear the Lamar Summer Programs 2011 T-Shirt and uniform pants, shorts, or skirts. T-Shirts will be available for purchase in the school store at the time of registration.
Attendance Policy:
Students are allowed only two absences. Upon the third absence, students will be dismissed from the summer school program and no credit will be awarded.
Code of Conduct: Summer School is a closed campus. Once arriving on campus, students must remain on campus until 3:00 or until a parent/guardian signs the student out in N113. Students may not leave campus during lunch or at any break time.
Lamar Credit Recovery Summer School (Lamar High School Students Only)

Cost: None
All credit recovery courses will be taken online in computer labs under the supervision of Subject Area Specialists. Students can take up to two one-semester courses and can earn one credit. Only students who have taken a course and lost credit due to a failing grade or excessive absences are eligible to take that particular course(s) in credit recovery summer school.

Open to all high school students with counselor approval.

All core courses will be taken in an online format under the supervision of Subject Area Specialists. Speech and Health are the only courses that will be taught in a traditional classroom setting. Students can take two one-semester courses and can earn one credit.
